I wonder if I wrote you a sonnet
Moved my heart from the dark onto my sleeve
I wonder what parts you'd take from it
If you'd like the flow of the words I weave
Would you like the part about your brown eyes
How I want to get lost deep inside them
Or the part about the way your hair lies
It blocks your sight a bit, but no problem
Maybe the part about your lovely laugh
And how I tell jokes just to hear it
I say I'll go down a different path
You gasp and say "no!" As if you fear it
Or perhaps you won’t take a thing from it
And think this sonnet is just a sonnet
