I think the problem with me is
I want to show you everything
I want to take you to all of my favourite places,
Let you see what else makes my heart beat faster
Take you in as you take in the views, the sights, the sounds
I like for the things I find beautiful to mingle,
To know each other, inside and out
I want you to watch my favourite films
Hand holding mine, thumb tracing my palm instinctively
Your mind captivated by the screen
I want to make you my favourite meals,
Keeping one eye on the pots and pans,
Another on you as you watch the process,
Learning what spices and seasonings make me
I want you to like them
Like me
I want to create memories of you
Intertwined with all I know and all I am
So that I can't go anywhere,
Watch anything,
Eat anything,
Without thinking of you.
But what happens when the sights and sounds get boring?
When your hand stay in your lap,
And the screen no longer captivates you?
When the spices and seasonings become bland, or bitter, or repetitive?
When I can't go anywhere,
Watch anything,
Eat anything,
Without thinking of you
And how I took you everywhere
That you didn’t want to go.
